When I have a camera in my hand, I know no fear- Alfred Einsentaedt

Since the Covid-19 pandemic started last year in South Africa, it has exposed socio-economic weaknesses resulting from poor policy implementation and a fundamental failure of political leadership. Has a result of that, there has been huge increase in the number of protest in the country demanding service delivery. It is believed that in South Africa since the pandemic has started we have recorded more than 900 service delivery protest from August to January.

It was also no different here in Grahamstown as resident along with the taxi association took to the street to show their dissatisfaction with service delivery, starting with fixing road issue, water issue and lastly illegal dumping sites around the community.

Whenever there is a protest it means that something which is required, is not been done by the people in power. Therefore, the residents of Makana took to the streets to voice out their frustration on how the mayor is treating them. There's lack of service delivery, potholes and the increase on illegal dumping site. There first three picture show reasoning for the protest, and then the remaining seven picture will show the actual strike.
